Welcome to Natural Vibrations! Since this is my first post, I decided to talk a little about my personal journey and how I came about working with energy and spirit.
Ever since I was a young kid, I’ve always been interested in the alternative. I collected and read books on witchcraft and always wanted to live with a native American tribe. However, I wasn’t religious at all. I never really believed in organized religion and I honestly didn’t like using the word ‘GOD’ except in times of dire straits (like trying to pass my math exams).
In the beginning of 2015 I ran into an old friend – Janit and we began talking about the work he did which was mainly working with fire and Reiki. I decided to learn Reiki, more to see what it was all about. Soon over the span of a year I learnt all levels of Reiki and only had the teacher’s level left, which allowed me to teach reiki to others. Even though I practiced reiki on myself as part of the training, I never actually did reiki on anyone else. Nor did I really understand the ramifications of what I was learning and how the universe actually works.
As with all stories, mine had a little hiccup. I went through a breakup which totally knocked me on my ass and I was suffering for months. It was at this time I came across a Shamanic festival being organized in Delhi. I had never heard of such a thing nor did I know if it was possible to learn from a real shaman sitting in India. Especially one who dealt in the Native American or Mayan traditions. I signed up with this festival and it changed my life. I met some of the most amazing teachers I have ever come across and I truly began to understand how energy actually works.
The first person I totally bonded with was Anahata who runs the Anahata foundation. She had spent a lot of time studying in Peru and we instantly bonded. It was like I met an old friend, someone I knew for many years. She worked on healing my heart and heart energy.
Luca – the Italian shaman who was known for telling the most funniest non – funny jokes was trained in the Native American traditions and worked with Holotropic breathwork and also organized the sweat lodge. The sweat lodge was an intense experience and totally changed me. After sitting in that hot, dark and steamy structure for 2 hours… my mind was quiet. Something I had never experienced in my life. We never realize how much chatter we have in our minds. They don’t call it the ‘monkey mind’ for nothing. It’s only when the mind is quiet and in the present moment, can things work out.
Mohan Rai & Dansing who we lovingly called the Nepali shamans as they were from there were the elders of the group and worked with traditions that were closer to the Indian traditions. They worked with planets and their placements as well as our ancestral spirits. Unfortunately Mohanji died a month after I met him. I like to think he had one last bit of guidance left to give that he reserved for us at the festival.
And then there was Chris Eagle. When I met Chris I was very lost and his healing sessions and teachings really resonated with me or maybe it was that he was a punk rocker in his younger days that made me feel close to him. Chris works with spirit energy and does healing through sound as well as readings. He knows so much and just being in his presence makes you feel that anything is possible. By luck, I ended up meeting with Chris for mentorship in Goa after the festival and then again in LA and in Delhi. I am lucky to have him as a mentor and friend and I continue to grow with his guidance and support through this journey.
I eventually also finished my Reiki teachers training with R.K Sharma, who surprisingly explained everything with so much information and scientific explanation that even my rational mind was happy.
What I have learnt so far is a combination of these lovely teachers and by reading a number of books. One of the main things we must remember is that everything is energy. This is a fact! Another important thing to remember is that we create our own reality. I will perhaps go into details of this in another post, but trust me when I say we create everything around us. Yes there are horrible things that happen in this world, some of it is our own making and some is our karma, however how to tackle and get out of these situations all depend on us. Once you really come to terms with this information is when you can see the magic happen and I have witnessed so much magic ! Things would magically appear as I wanted them to be, money, free seats, the weather and so much more. My friend Christina is a witness to this who once asked me during our travels if ‘I was a witch’! Because when Europe was said to be flooding, we still had sunshine every single day. So much so that it would only rain during the time we were inside a restaurant or in a tube and hence never had a drop fall on us.
There’s still a lot I have to learn, but along that way I am offering healing sessions and training to others like me who might be searching for something more, even if they don’t know it yet.
